I wanted freedom but I'm restricted I tried to give you up but I'm addicted
now that you know I'm trapped sense of elation you'll never dream of breaking this fixation you will squeeze the life out of me

. . : : . . : : . . : : . .
*Warning: From here on, the post is mostly self-reflection. No need to read if you want entertainment. You're not going to find it here.
As finals draw closer, I begin to realize how much I've grown these past four years. Never more so than these past two quarters. For once, I didn't sell myself short, I had a goal, I aimed, and I scored. There's still a lot of life left in me, hell, I haven't even hit prime yet.
Which brings me to my next point: What was the sudden change in me that allowed me to do all this? After much thought, I finally realized what was different about me. I stopped focusing on the outer me, and became closer to the inner me. I had always thought I never had any qualities within me that stood out from the rest. But silly me, I was always looking at my physical appearance and comparing myself with my friends (can I help it if I have some SERIOUSLY HOT friends?) I always thought, "Well of course it's easy for them to succeed...they're hot and therefore they must have awesome self-confidence, hence, success." I was so ignorant. After hanging out with my girls, I talked to Jill online. I told her how much fun I was having...and she said it's because I was a hottie. I nearly choked on my own saliva...what was this girl talking about??? Obviously, she's just trying to be nice and has to say that cuz she's my Beta sis. But then I thought, she's right. I may not be the physically hottest looking girl in town, but I am ME. And I'm beginning to really love me and accept me. Not only that, but I was growing positively. That's what makes you hot. To have a beautiful inside.
I love you all my friends. You're all HOT. |

Today was the last day of SPOP Spring training...up next WEEKEND TRAINING. I love me some SPOP. After our training we headed out to the Mesa Court commons. I haven't eaten there since freshman year...my A LOT has changed since then...but apparently not us. Not 10 minutes into dinner, did about 20 of us start to get into a little food fight. But in our defense, it was a nicely toned down one with only carrot pieces and bread crumbs. The poor freshman sitting around us looked so confused...
Afterwards, I rushed my butt down to Sharkees in Newport for a little quality time with the girls. Congrats to all the grads!!! As always, my girls are quite educational. Today I learned what a girl subconsciously means when she bites/chews her fingers and shakes/taps her legs. Wouldn't you like to know what it means? heheheh Now, everytime I see a girl do that, I will giggle and wish her the best of luck.
If you really want to know what it means, holler at me *wink* |

Check out this song: Jamie Cullum - Twentysomething
lyrics After years of expensive education A car full of books and anticipation I’m an expert on Shakespeare and that’s a hell of a lot But the world don’t need scholars as much as I thought Maybe I’ll go travelling for a year Finding myself, or start a career Could work the poor, though I’m hungry for fame We all seem so different but we’re just the same Maybe I’ll go to the gym, so I don’t get fat Aren’t things more easy, with a tight six pack Who knows the answers, who do you trust I can’t even seperate love from lust Maybe I’ll move back home and pay off my loans Working nine to five, answering phones But don’t make me live for Friday nights Drinking eight pints and getting in fights Maybe I’ll just fall in love That could solve it all Philosophers say that that’s enough There surely must be more Love ain’t the answer, nor is work The truth elludes me so much it hurts But I’m still having fun and I guess that’s the key I’m a twentysomething and I’ll keep being me
This guy went from punk/metal rock to uptempo jazz...wow. He does some amazing Radiohead and Pharell covers. |

and not know how to pronounce Tag Heuer...? After four years of window shopping around South Coast plaza in Irvine, the ritzy ditzy mall of the rich, I have finally come to realize that I've been pronouncing it wrong when I saw the commercial for it with Tiger Woods. I am not worthy of the OC.
Maybe that's not so much of a bad thing =)
Random thought corner:
I was listening to the Beatles when it hit me...How did I come to know the Beatles? or Michael Jackson? or Disneyland? These icons are so ingrained into the culture I live in that I never gave it a second thought. SO, my point is...what would I think of the Beatles, or Michael Jackson, or Disneyland, or etc. if they didn't have such a huge reputation? Hmmm... |

What I Did On Friday Night. An Essay By Me
Do you remember those one page essays the teachers always made you do when they were too lazy to plan out the lesson plan for the day? Yeh, I had some lazy ass teachers in my time.
I digress.
Friday night. Friday started off with work, WHOOP DEE DOO. Ditched work and then proceeded to Reggaefest!!! Yay, I'm glad I went out. Saw a bunch of peeps, many SPOPheads, and my old DORM MATES! I miss them so. =) I didn't drink much, the free alcohol there was bitter as heck (Pahee and Eugene's squishy yuck faces were priceless after they took a sip) and I didn't have the patience to keep waiting in line at the Pub to get some $3 raspberry cider, WHICH btw, I never got because the both times I went out, someone else took the last cup. So I had to settle with Pear and Apple, it's just not the same people. Thankfully, a lot of my Taus were drunk...as were my dorm mates...as were Don and Janice...so I basically got drunk off their high. I love being around buzzed people, they make me feel happy and drunk w/o drinking =) So at the end of Reggaefest, I walked off with a promise to go over to Mona's apt and drink 40s with Janice, Mona, and May. WTF...good times good times.
Friday night part II. After getting home from Reggaefest, I quickly cleaned myself off of that smelly sticky beer and got ready to go out to the Harry Potter spopticular. I get to Joey's place and Tina and I are still indecisive. Still don't know if we'll watch Mean Girls or Harry Potter. Tina's never seen the first two, and I didn't really want to watch it. But, the rest of the SPOPheads convinced us to watch Harry Potter and it was fun. Tina and I are convinced that Hermione (sp?) and Ron are meant for each other. *Note to Harry Potter fanatics, neither one of us has read the books, therefore DO NOT spoil it and tell us whether or not they end up together. Spanks. End note. Once we got into the theater, we find that the six of us are separated from the rest of the group due to lack of seats. BOO. But that's okay, cuz us 6 outcasts ended up going to Denny's for dinner and chat. So, Fun Fun times.

taken from Erin's e-mail:
SAGITTARIUS

|
In vino veritas -- and, for Sagittarius, in booze blurtiness: When buttered, they'll spill all your secrets and many of their own. Tactlessness aside, Sagittarius is just plain fun to drink with. This is a sign of serious partying (what else would you expect from the sign of Sinatra, Keith Richards, the Bush twins and Anna Nicole Smith?). They're the people who chat up everyone in the room, then persuade the entire crowd to travel somewhere else -- like a nightclub, or a playground, or Cancun. Good-natured hijinks are sure to ensue (including a high possibility of loopy groping; spontaneous Sag is a brilliant booty call).
|
Trademark cocktails
A travel-loving sign, Sagittarius might be intrigued by drinks like Moscow mules, Singapore slings -- perhaps even a Long Island iced tea (not a bad option, given how much Sag can put away and still stay vertical). Party monsters that they are, they're attracted to shots, like the ever-popular lemon drop. Sag rules pears, and could use a nice pear cider right about now, come to think of it.
Drinking buddies
The Bush twins, Margaret Cho, Noel Coward, Betty Ford, Lucy Liu, Brad Pitt, Keith Richards, Frank Sinatra, Anna Nicole Smith, Britney Spears
</td>
. . : : . . : : . . : : . .
HAH! I don't know about the idea of "spontaneous Sag is a brilliant booty call"...DO NOT CALL ME FOR BOOTY IF YOUR ASS IS DRUNK.
but as for the idea of persuading the entire crowd to travel to somewhere, I don't think it's just me...I swear I wasn't the one who brought up the idea of driving to Vegas at 12 AM when everyone is drunk...and it wasn't my idea to drive to a strip bar instead because no one could drive to vegas. heh heh.
but my drinking buddies include Margaret Cho, Lucy Liu, Brad Pitt, Anna Nicole, and Miss Brit....LOL can you imagine that combo??? i swear people would pay to see that! |

i know i promised in my previous post that i was going to talk about hip hop and sampling, but i'm at work right now so i really can't dive into that subject.
but i did come across my brother's journal and he had this to say:
Interesting fact: "fo shizzle ma nizzle" is a bastardization of "fo' sheezy mah neezy" which is a bastardization of "for sure mah nigga" which is a bastdardization of "I concur with you whole heartedly my African American brother"
i hope no one takes offense to that (it seems everyone takes offense to everything...people are so sensitive nowadays heh), but i found it hilarious.

what an eventful weekend...
i started friday off with a bang by going to costco with toe, sarah, and rina. two highlights of that trip were: a) YUMMY gelata samples b) Toe looking a sizable box of dip, then taking a look at rina, then taking a final look at the box of dip and deciding that it would most likely not wind up at the guardian picnic the next day after going home with rina. (by the way, rina only ate a corner's worth of the dip and managed to bring the rest of the dip to the picnic...im so proud of her)
after the costco trip i ate at chic fil a YUMS and then proceeded to head out to the Zeta installs. not that i don't like the guys, they're an awesome bunch, but really, i feel like every outing involves a zeta (read on and you'll know what i mean)
The installs were like any other installs, except for the fact that the room was made for 50 people and 200 people showed up...not fun.
After installs we all went over to the house for an after party. random people, random events. the night was topped off by kat getting piss ass drunk and calling dennis out. HILARIOUS.
saturday began with the guardian picnic which went pretty smoothly thank you very much. now, as we were all packing up to leave and take a nap before heading off to a social later that night, a small army of Zeta boys showed up. now i know there a couple of guardians who happen to be Zetas, but REALLY...did the Zetas need to show up at a TAU event all dressed up in Zeta wear? last time i checked, the picnic was for the Tau girls and their guardians. not the zetas. but please, don't get me wrong...i have nothing against them.
later on that night we all met up again for our social with the lovely ladies of DPG. they usually roll out deep so we made an extra effort to come out with as much girls as we could to even things out. we ended up with about 17 Taus and 3 DPG. so we decided to cancel the bowling social so that instead we could all eat and chill at BJs. that was going pretty chill when lo and behold: the ZETAS are back in town. what in the world?! granted they were there to celebrate the birthday of a DPG girl, but GOOD GOSH, i get the feeling that i can never be rid of them when i'm in irvine. but no, i really have nothing against them other than the fact that every tau event turns into a tau-zeta event. we need to branch out...pronto.
so of course, the taus all decided to drink up together (as always). we played kings and honestly, i've never seen kings played so horribly/greatly. For those of you who don't know the game, please read this. the game can vary with rules, but you get the picture. When we needed to rhyme, we could all count on charlene to fudge that one up. First it was 'might', charlene said dike. ??? ooookay...to add to that, miss innocent glendy asks, "what's a dike?" a round of laughter please. the next rhyme that came around started off with 'black'. charlene automatically says 'cat'. a second round of laughter please. she finally got it right on the third try, i don't even remember what the rhyme was, but we were all proud of char.
now, i got the card that allowed me to make a rule up for the remainder of the game. here's my rule: No one is allowed to say "you", those who do, drink every time they say it. wow, i didn't realize how much we rely on the word you. we started replacing you with tu, until the next rule was we couldn't say tu. i think by the end of the night we were speaking spanglish with a hint of italian and tagalog. that rule got everyone pissed drunk.
goal accomplished.
well now that i got the whole sorority/fraternity events out of the way, i can proceed with normal life.
. . : : . . : : . . : : . .
i went to see Fifty First Dates, which is so adorable. kinda sad and happy at the same time. i loved it. i'd recommend it for viewing, especially adam sandler fans.
i was going to post about hip hop and sampling, but since this is already a long ass post, i decided to post that topic on an entirely separate entry. it just wouldn't do it justice if i combined that topic with this entry.
see ya next post. |

miss rina says i lack update. well that's because i feel like i never have anything to write about! okay wait, scratch that. i have PLENTY of things to write about, but they can't be shown to public.
but being the good friend i am, i will attempt to post up a somewhat worthwhile post to keep miss rina occupied at work.
tau news: good news! we're finally expanding to UCLA! it's quite exciting to be able to witness the expansion of this sorority. we kinda lost momentum for awhile, but it seems like it's climbing back up...hopefully on a more productive note. can't reveal too much...you never know who's reading your journals *wink*
news about me: it's been raining like crazy here in so. cali, with flash flood warnings for "The OC." just this morning i heard on the radio that a car crashed into a stream next to the freeway and got swept out. the sad thing is, (and i'm going to pay big time on karma for this), my first thought was "shit...that's my fucking exit off the freeway...i'm sooo gonna be late for work."
also, i've found a new fast food joint to eat at. it's called chik fil a...that's some good chicken there. i highly recommend it for those you who live in the irvine/tustin area. oh and hey! it was miss rina who told me about this place...kudos!
i wish i had something more substantial to talk about, but i honestly can't come up with something right now. i blame it on lack of sleep. and from the looks of things, sleep won't be in the horizon anytime soon.
i need sleep. honest to god, good, hearty sleep. |

OH MY JEEBUS!
i don't know how you guys take your chicken mcnuggets, but i absolutely LOVE the "dry" white pieces. everyone else i've eaten mcnuggets with seem to think otherwise. but.....i just saw the McDonald's commercial and lo and behold....THE MCNUGGETS ARE NOW ALL WHITE PIECES! in your face!!!
i had to get that out of my system...i would have called all the dark piece lovers up but i figured that would be hazardous to my health...
and in other news, i was told by my cousin over thanksgiving dinner that people have come up with a "turducken." it's basically duck stuffed in a chicken that has turkey legs. i looked down on my one piece of turkey and suddenly it didn't seem sufficient anymore.

a quick question to start off the entry: does anyone know what that shiny circular looking thing doctors wear on their head is called? and what does it do?? no one i ask ever seems to know.
and on with the entry...
my roomate diah definitely has her priorities straight. she can procrastinate until 5 in the morning the day her essay is due to start working on it... but she WILL NOT procrastinate when it comes to driving out to the ralph's and picking up one bag of chips to satisfy her junk food craving of the night.
speaking of procrastination, no matter how many times i tell myself not to procrastinate, i end up doing it. in fact, it seems like the more i tell myself not to, the more i do. so i figure, i should just stop beating myself up and procrastinate without guilt. no matter what, i'll procrastinate anyways, might as well have fun at it.

i remember the days when i would look at my journal and have a million and one things to say. i don't have that anymore. not that it's necessarily a negative, it just means i've become more open and im not so black and white anymore. posting entries that try to explain what i'm thinking would be a disaster to read. i don't have the creative know how to write to start with, so i guess the more complex shenanigans in my head will be nothing more than lonely floating thoughts. . . : : . . : : . .
on a lighter note, my awesome friend susan has gotten us basically VIP treatment to the next yellowcard show in ventura. the only negative is the fact that it's in VENTURA...im in orange county (which by the way, seems nothing like the show "The OC" to me...i guess i'm just not rich enough to experience the those wild parties and such. i'm just a lowly transplant from los angeles into UC Irvine. anyways, i digress from my main point)...that is one-long-ass-drive. so this saturday is just chill day for sus and i to shop for halloween costumes and get ready to rock out.
speaking of music, theresa's lastest journal post on the spooks got me thinking of my first year in college. my first year of college is defined through music...however not in the more "cool" way of matching lyric to life. for some odd reason, i remember every song i was listening while i had my adventure. for example, spooks' 'things i've seen' was playing in my car while my suite mates and i drove up to the bay for spring break @ 3 in the morning. it has nothing really to do with the trip, only the fact that it seemed to be playing nonstop. simple enough.
good day. |

it has just been brought up by mr. fang that i never update my livejournal anymore. and here's the reason why: i have nothing, nada, zip, ZILCH to write about these days. but since it is andy's 21st birthday in a couple of days, i've decided to give it a go. this is my birthday present to mr. andy fang (ain't i the best friend anyone can have? hehe)
summer: i have no summer. while everyone is out going to concerts, amusement parks, beach, etc., i'm out getting a second taste of the real world and it sucks. (well i can't complain about the bling bling, of course, i don't have any time to actually spend it though! blah.) so rather than bore the dedicated readers of my journal, i'm just gonna skip the details.
14 cabrini: life at the house is nice. it's not what i'm accustomed to, but nevertheless nice. i hardly see my roomates though so it doesn't feel quite like home yet. in fact, our last roomate is still in a different timezone from us.
anyways, the whole point of this entry was to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ANDY FANG!
in the meantime, all you who are still reading this can surf onto to other more educating sites while i beat mr. fang 21 times. like i said, i'm an awesome friend *wink* |

all i have to say is thank god the week is over.
while everyone was out having a FANTASTIC week, me and my two other roomates were stressing over where to live and how the hell we were gonna move out our entire apt in one day.
so after stressing over my in-class assignment and midterm on friday, i went home to pack. packed til about 2 in the morning before i couldn't take it anymore.
saturday rolls around and im running around irvine trying to get cheap storage, find moving boxes, and finding someone with a truck who has time (cuz everyone else who has a truck decides to have a freaking 2 day formal in palm springs)
anywhos, my trip brings me to the brand new ikea in costa mesa...as i was walking around, i find the usual and (drumroll please) make up artist consultants and a trendy little oxygen bar. i didn't know what to say. so now, you can get cute furniture and a make over and get fresh oxygen in your system. life if good.
i was gonna write about the awful moving experience, but i'm getting bitchy just thinking about it.
